ECTA courses are offered at a range of venues across the City of Edinburgh. Our next Microsoft Office Specialist course will take place at Haywired IT in Craigmillar, and IT Essentials at ECTA in Wester Hailes.

We are currently recruiting job seekers for our next CCNA Exploration course which will be delivered at Net Resources Academy in Haymarket, from Wednesday 11th June.

To be eligible, you will be unemployed and living in Edinburgh, qualified to at least NC Computing, HNC/HND Computing, or related discipline, CompTIA A+, or degree level educated.

In addition, we're looking for candidates who have not benefited from either Training for Work or New Deal type training support in the past.

Edinburgh job seekers can now achieve their first Cisco networking certification on our 6-month, part-time, pilot training course, leading to the new Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician (CCENT^®) accreditation, a first step towards the CCNA.

Industry related job roles include Help Desk Technician, Customer Support Representative, PC Support Specialist, Technical Support Representative, and First Line Support in Small Business and Internet Service Provider settings.

Today was a special day for the first graduates of Edinburgh Community Technology Academy (ECTA) when they attended an awards ceremony at City of Edinburgh Council's state of the art Business Centre at the City Chambers in the High Street.

IT Essentials, and Microsoft Office Specialist graduates were presented with certificates and awards. In this picture, IT Essentials graduates pose with Rob Doyle of Learndirect Scotland and ECTA instructor Awais Akhtar.

Limited places are available on a Microsoft Office Specialist course starting Monday 27th August at Haywired IT Centre in Craigmillar.

ECTA Launch

We had a very enjoyable evening at the official ECTA launch event last week.

Joining ECTA trainees at Net Resources Academy were guests from Microsoft and Cisco, and a wide range of Edinburgh employers and Joined up for Jobs agencies.

Building a Cisco Networking Academy

Over the past few months we've been building our first Cisco Community Networking Academy at Net Resources in Edinburgh's West End.

The technical infrastructure work is now complete and Net Resources Academy is live. Along the way, we took some photos, and this article tells the story of the building process.
