Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

The widely respected Cisco Career Certifications bring valuable, measurable rewards to network professionals, their managers, and the organizations that employ them.

The CCNA indicates a foundation in and apprentice knowledge of networking. CCNA certified professionals can install, configure, and operate LAN, WAN, and dial access services for small networks (100 nodes or fewer), including but not limited to use of these protocols: IP, RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, Serial, Frame Relay, VLANs, Ethernet, Access Lists.

Course description

This course helps you prepare for CCNA certification.

You will learn decision-making and problem solving techniques in the application of science, mathematics and communication to solve networking problems.

Through hands on activities and labs, you will learn to install and configure Cisco switches and routers in multi-protocol networks using local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN), provide level 1 troubleshooting service, and improve network performance and security.

Your acquired competencies include:

  • Install and configure Cisco Routers and Switches.
  • Setup, configure, and maintain a LAN/WAN.
  • Implement, maintain and troubleshoot network infrastructure.
  • Improve network performance and security.

Course Delivery

This course has been designed on a part-time basis with two full classroom and lab based days per week.

The course will cover the four semesters in class over six months.

During the course, you’ll have access to official Cisco online learning resources and assessment tools, study guides, and lab equipment, as well as instructor support and career guidance.

Eligibility

Due to the level of this qualification, it is required that individuals have qualifications in one or more of the following areas: NC Computing, HNC/HND Computing or CompTIA A+, or degree level education in related discipline.
