Bill Gates signs Scottish training deal

Microsoft chairman Bill Gates has signed a deal with the first minister Jack McConnell to provide work placements and other aid for young people who are not in a job or training.

In an announcement at the Microsoft sponsored Government Leaders Forum at the Scottish Parliament Mr Gates said  "We hope that by working with our business partners in Scotland and the Scottish government, we can help young people gain the skills and experience they need to participate in the knowledge economy and ultimately help the Scottish economy realise its potential."
