Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS)

Microsoft Office Specialist certification is a globally recognised standard demonstrating expertise with Microsoft Office applications. MOS has become the largest and fastest growing desktop certification program in the world.

This qualification is useful within an administration; clerical; 1st line / desktop support; data entry role and most office-based positions where skills in the Microsoft Office suite are required.

Course Description

The MOS programme is the only comprehensive, performance-based certification program awarded by Microsoft to validate desktop computer skills covering:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel


The Microsoft Office Specialist programme provides computer program literacy, measures proficiency and identifies opportunities for skills enhancement.

Course Delivery

This course has been designed as a 43-hour curriculum and is delivered on a part-time basis 10 hours per week, with 5 - 5.5 full classroom and lab based days per week, over 08 weeks.

The course is delivered using Microsoft Press course books and examples. All exams are online.

The programme is currently delivered at Heart of Midlothian FC Tynecastle Stadium

Qualifications

On successful completion of any Core modules, you will become a Microsoft Office Specialist.

Eligibility

Candidates must have prior exposure to the Microsoft Office suite, preferably through past work experience or the ECDL.
